Portable Fire Extinguisher License
The State of Maryland requires a license to service and/or repair portable fire extinguishers. A license must be obtained through the Office of the State Fire Marshal for every: Individual, Firm or Corporation commercially servicing, repairing, filling or refilling portable fire extinguishers. A test based on NFPA 10 must be passed with a grade of 70% or better. Copies of current certifications and a resume are required to accompany the online application. An issued license is renewable every three years and is the sole responsibility of the license holder to reapply; otherwise a retest of the NFPA 10 shall be required.
